The Real Magic Drum

Making worldwide news and selling for four times the expected price, the famous drum from the cover of The Beatles "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" album was auctioned off at Christie's Rock Memorabilia for £541,250 ($1.07m). The new owner was an anonymous telephone bidder. Hopefully he or she still has enough money left to purchase a large flat mirror.

In other news, the video Seek and ye shall Find (#19) by youknowmyname231 is available on YouTube.

Finally to provide some balance after all of that stuff about the Beatles and Satanism, I offer the strangest news story of the day from the U.K. Telegraph.

They're not "Satanic", it's lazy sterotyping based on nothing. Agnotstics apart from George, who was of course, a Devout Hindu.

I think they used all sorts of religious imagery in their art, and that caused people to make assumptions and draw conclusions about the Beatles' personal convictions. I agree that George was the one who seemed to wear his religion on his sleeve, but I can't say for sure if a Devout Hindu would classify George as a Devout Hindu.

Thanks for the comment.

I heard George went into the unknown chanting "Hari Krishna" all the way...... free from fear.

I remember telling 'christian' Beatle-fans that, and watching their faces get flushed with shock!

"Good for him!", I would remind them.
I'd say that was pretty 'devout' of him.

peace, Vince.

I like that.

I was outbit. Tried to bid my liver, but they wouldn't have it. ;)

I seem to recall Mal Evans saying that the Beatles were so anti-Christian that it was sometimes shocking. Methinks John Lennon is talking out his arsehole here to get out from under the avalanche of criticism that followed his infamous comments.

Agreed

The Beatles house in London is in the news for going on sale.

It is the only place where all four Beatles lived, and yet there were only three bedrooms. Hmmm.

Vince here,
Not to go 'off-topic', but I'd like to say that I like youknowmynane1234's style.

There's a soft undercurrent of 'comedy' to his clips:
A gallows humor that reminds me of an "X-Files" episode.
The one where the TV in the hotel is trying to 'clue them in'.
Also, as I've mentioned before, Negativland's "Helter Stupid" is another take in the "Satan's in the music" theory:
http://www.negativland.com/

Check them out!
They've been making 'incredibly strange music' for over 20 years, yet they're only known for being sued by U2........
They deserve a little attention.

Have a happy day,
Vince.

I think you'll see that many of Iamaphoney's flock have a vicious idea of Christianity that is mixed with standard conspiracy theories if you look at other videos they favorite. You may have been on to something all along Vince.

THANK YOU!!!

I'm telling you.....
I've seen many a person hit bottom: no answer in sight!

if I had a dime for every stripper, here in Vegas, who turned to CHRIST, after they fell from 'grace':

and, then , to have the BALLS to say I'm a sinner for not 'accepting' their precious JEEBUZ??!?

Sorry, didn't mean to go 'ranting' there.
But, thanks for the acknowledgment.

your pal,
Vince.

Vince this is not your standard Christianity. Some of these people want to string Paul up for making "the devil's music". They blame him for the 60's and want us to return to that Arthur Fonzirelli-Happy Days-1950's idea. It's really weird because everyone that I know thinks of John as the 60's leader and Paul as the lightweight guy who was lucky to have a more talented friend at his side.

Believe it or not, that 'blame it on the 60's' game cuts BOTH WAYS!

I recently purchased the Zappa Family's "Making Of Freak Out!" set.
On the last disc, there is an interview with Zappa, in which he says, "I think there's a conpiracy to keep people stupid, and, in the 60's, people worked hard to make people stupid, with 'pop and rock'."
That's kinda parphrasing, but I'll bust out the CD, to tell you what he really said.

Stay cool,
Vince.

that is a bit weird that Joe Epigraph" was give the credit...... not some one that actually did the work, the "circus" graphic artist, and it was done on a real animal kin, not paper.......

so this sale had no comission to a living artist? or neext of kin?
