Another Phony Phoney

Yes, "mikenl" who I believe is MikeyNL1038 on YouTube, has informed me that the video "Help Us" was not done by Iamaphoney. He is a credible source with frequent contact with Iamaphoney, so I'm pretty sure he is correct. The thing that surprised me is that Mikey suggests that the real author of "Help Us" was actually Jude from the NIR discussion group, who usually posts videos under the name RockXLight (endorsed by me!).

That's okay, my friend. I don't mind being played as the Fool on the Hill. It goes to show the contagiousness of the Iamaphoney phenomenon. YouKnowMyName231 put on a new one today - #11 Uncertainty Principle. Everybody's got something to hide except for me and my phoney.

Just be warned my friends, I think when Iamaphoney returns on February 9, he might just blow all of the pretenders out of the water.

Cryptic Messages

I hope I'm not telling tales out of school, but some cryptic messages appeared in the "Nothing Is Real" discussion group today from a mysterious writer named ROXOR. With February 9 approaching I felt I should post them here. Any insights are welcome in the Comments.

1) it never rains in s c
2) the superstone in egypt
3) tornado to paul
4) dennis is leaving

(Note: #4 was in response to a posting regarding Presidential candidate Dennis Kucinich)

If ROXOR or any of the Moderators of "Nothing Is Real" would like these removed, please let me know and I will comply.

Iamaphoney Tops the Tube - UPDATED

Have you noticed that if you do a search for "Beatles" on YouTube, the Iamaphoney version of "Now and Then" is at the top of the list when sorted by relevance? I'm sure that Apple is thrilled about that.

UPDATE: Although the video is still available here, within a day after posting this, it was removed from the top of the search. Is it because I opened my big mouth? If you search for "Beatles Now and Then" it will be at the top of the listing.

Where can you get Iamaphoney's music? UPDATED

Many people have been asking me where they can get my music. I do make music, but people are not asking about that. They want Iamaphoney's music and I am just a fan of Iamaphoney.

I know you want his full versions of "Now and Then" and "I Found Out." Believe me, so do I! I think I have enough readers now to convince Iamaphoney to tell me as soon as they are available.

But in the meantime, you might want to check out the recommendation from anonymous:

It is quite good and trippy.

You can also check http://www.myspace.com/formerme

Not convinced? Try this: http://www.myspace.com/revlovers

You might also try taking a trip to Denmark to look for a recording studio with a huge Sgt. Pepper poster on the wall.
I can say no more.

OOPS, YES I CAN SAY MORE....

UPDATE: Anonymous Anonymous said...Stereo version of Now & Then here: http://www.myspace.com/pauimccartney

Ecce Cor Meum

It could be Paul McCartney
It could be Iamaphoney
It could be neither
It could be both

But I think it is interesting that the website below would have a "Clues" section.
http://www.eccecormeum.com

UPDATE: The website is in fact registered to MPL Communications. It is an official Paul McCartney domain.

"Now and Then" is spreading

Ever since YouTube user beatles222 took Iamaphoney's version of "Now And Then" and presented it as a new video with no explanation, people have been wondering, "Is it really them?"

The "rumor" has reached at least two Beatles News sites who are treating it with both skepticism and interest.

What Goes On wrote: While I must stress that there is absolutely no way to tell what this is or where it came from, and whether or not it is the actual new version of the song that's rumored to be released sometime soon, I must say I personally think it does really does sound like a John Lennon demo given the same treatment they gave to Real Love and Free As A Bird in 1995.
The Abbeyrd's Beatles News Page described it this way: While this sounds very professionally produced, we don't think this is anything more than a clever, but unauthorized, mash, thanks to the overuse of echo and the audio from Beatle songs woven through it. A mash, but a well-done one, at that. (Abbeyrd actually links to an Iamaphony alias for the video)

Can the general news media be far behind?

He will return...

RockXLight has reminded me that Iamaphoney will return on February 9. Until then, we will have Liverpool 8 by Ringo Starr to enjoy!

I will also be posting in the interim, so keep checking here for the latest Iamaphoney news.

Is Iamaphoney done?

The answer is NO! I think there will be a lot more in 2008. It's pretty amazing that Paul McCartney's heart surgery in the late summer/early fall had been kept quiet for this long. We wish him well and we are amazed at how quickly he recovered to rock us in such venues as the Paris Olympia. Anyway, if you look back over the last several Iamaphoney videos, you have to wonder again, did he have inside information?

Some people have complained that there wasn't much of a revelation. As we all sat in front of our PCs on November 12, all we saw were news reports of the London fire, some strange backgrounds on the IAAP YouTube page and three versions of Rotten Apple #65, all of which were taken down rapidly. But the fact is that Iamaphoney has been talking about a big revelation in 2008 for at least a year. Also, you have to admit that it's possible that we did not see it. Perhaps the fire, was actually a smoke screen to cover up what actually did happen on November 12. Some day, we will know.

While Iamaphoney has taken a bit of a hiatus from public view, I thought it might be a good idea to take a look at some of his better imitators. Yes, excellence does bring imitation and many video makers have paid tribute to Iamaphoney. Try these links to some of my favorites and let me know if I am missing anybody who should be on the list.

YouKnowMyName231
A newcomer with an original approach.
RockXLight
Very clever tributes that stand up on their own.
billisher
Some genuinely creepy videos that created a buzz and then disappeared. This user has closed the account.
mccrabapple
Some excellent homemade videos for some of the more obscure McCartney songs, including the mysterious 222. McCartney himself mentioned this videomaker in a recent interview. Some of the images in the videos come surprisingly close to those found in Iamaphoney's work.
yhshvh10
More of a satire, I think. But enjoyable viewing without being disparaging to the subject.
