So this whole Iamaphoney thing is a hoax, started by a frustrated musician in a band called Pupil CPH or Pupil Copenhagen. The Iamaphoney actor is in this band. And they perform all the songs.

I like the way you paraphrased it because it didn't include the bit about Iamaphoney being a frustrated musician who hates Paul or whatever. I have a respectful difference of opinion on Iamaphoney's feelings towards Paul. I have always thought that he adores Paul in a "he might be the devil" kind of way.
The only problem with simple explanations like the one you provided (which nevertheless is probably the most likely) is that there is always some significant something that doesn't seem to fit the theory.
Iamaphoney has always labeled his work as "entertainment" and I have always been entertained by it, but I have not figured out his motivation even after all this time and after a handful of interactions with him online. Your guess is as good as mine.
